Denver — Jack https://www.thebluevan.us/denver-jack/ https://www.thebluevan.us/denver-jack/#comments Sun, 28 Oct 2012 05:14:31 +0000 http://www.thebluevan.us/?p=612 Continue reading Denver — Jack]]> After leaving Boise, we headed down the road towards Colorado. The drive through Idaho was slow and uneventful but when we got to Wyoming, everything changed. On our way through Wyoming, we encountered a blizzard that we had to drive though — a rather hardcore blizzard. Our route was stopped a few times because of accidents made by truckers late at night. We finally made it to a packed truck stop and decided it seemed like a decent place to stay, so we established our camp thing and went to sleep. Unfortunately the roads were blocked the next day by yet more accidents from truckers and we had to stay at the truck stop for a few more hours. When the roads cleared up a little, we headed out and went towards Denver, Colorado.

I like Denver. Denver had a pretty downtown area and it was located in what seemed to be a pleasant location for living. I didn’t spend too much time in Denver today; mostly we just drove. We picked up my aunt and her husband and went to Boulder where I got to spend a while at. Boulder was really nice, I only really went to the mall thing so I can’t really judge it that much but I still liked it. I found a vintage clothes store which I browsed and almost spent all of my money at. I also found a wonderful tea store and a really cool candy store. After our Boulder exposure, we went back to our trailer and ate pizza.

Denver Part 1 — Jennah https://www.thebluevan.us/denver-part-1-jennah/ https://www.thebluevan.us/denver-part-1-jennah/#comments Sun, 28 Oct 2012 05:05:36 +0000 http://www.thebluevan.us/?p=609 Continue reading Denver Part 1 — Jennah]]> Yesterday we arrived in Denver. It was quite chilly out, and we arrived late. The next morning we had to get up hideously early, since Ryan had a test. After dropping him off, we went to Benny’s, a Tex-Mex breakfast restaurant. It was really good. After that we frolicked in the park for a while, and then picked Ryan up, and headed to see Aunt Rebecca. We then went to Boulder with them and perused the many idyllic boutiques. After that, we got pizza at Little Caesar’s, since it was pizza night, and then headed back to the trailer. Ryan said that the campground was covered in fire ants, so naturally I was cautious as I walked the dogs. After eating, Mother and Father dearest went out on some sort of gathering thing, leaving my sibs and I alone. It was mostly peaceful, and my younger sibs watched Barbie. Even Max, who said it was a, and I quote : Pretty wonderful movie. After that it was pretty much chillaxing time. Tomorrow will be exploration of the mile high city.

Denver https://www.thebluevan.us/denver/ https://www.thebluevan.us/denver/#respond Sat, 27 Oct 2012 15:41:55 +0000 http://www.thebluevan.us/?p=606 Continue reading Denver]]> Woke up this morning at 5:30and Team DeCorso was on the road before 7. We dropped Ryan off at East High School for his ACT and then we did a leisurely driving tour of Denver and stopped at Benny’s Restaurant for breakfast (http://www.bennysrestaurant.com/). We had Famous Breakfast Burritos (eggs, potatoes, smothered with green chile and cheese on top) and Sloppy Breakfast Burritos (eggs, potatoes, peppers, onions, tomatoes, jalapenos, chorizo, bacon, sausage smothered with chile verde with cheese on top). Annabelle had steak & eggs.

Breakfast at Benny’s

Then we headed to Bekka & Jeremy’s house where we were amazed by their incredible Lord of the Rings collection. And their cats. We all piled into the van and headed to Boulder, where we walked along Pearl Mall and bought 4 glow-in-the-dark fairies, 14 marbles, some lovely died curly roving, five coffees and chocolate from the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Saturday night Mark and I went out for Indian food with my old friend Bob. We reminisced about a memorable trip to California where nearly everything went wrong – but was still a fabulous trip.

Sunday we headed out for a day of thrift stores and parks but the van had a van issue and we returned to the campground where Mark spent the rest of the day fixing the rear brake assembly. Sylvia and Annabelle tried to catch a bunny and there were several deer just hanging around. At 8pm, the van was fixed and we headed to King Soopers for some quick groceries and then headed home.

We have a dire need to do laundry so Monday we got up early and Mark left to do that and the rest of stayed here and readied the camper for travel. As soon as Mark returns, we are headed to the Denver Children’s Museum!
